In Tenerife the romerías run from June to October, with Arafo, Abades and several bailes de magos in August alone. That day your street fills up, but not with just anyone: it fills up with your village. The neighbour from the fifth floor, the family you know from school, the woman whose usual table you always keep. Treating them like a passing tourist to "capture" is the first mistake.
Be part of the village, not just the business selling that day
What's actually worth showing isn't the council poster everyone shares that one. It's that you're taking part too: the bunting going up, the extra terrace set up, the team ready before the first wave arrives. A neighbour who sees their usual bar dressed up just like their own street doesn't read it as advertising they read it as you belonging there just like they do.
The street gets cut off too, and that's fine
The romería also has a less sellable side: traffic cuts, parking bans and bus diversions from first thing in the morning. Every romería cuts off the streets differently, so pay attention to how yours actually affects you deliveries, your staff getting in, your own hours and if something changes that day, say so in advance.
Monday, the fiesta belongs to the neighbours
The cheapest content, and the one with the most warmth, isn't from fiesta day itself: it's the three days after. A photo of the street being cleared up, a thank you to whoever came, a mention of the bar next door you shared the day with. It's the one week of the year when asking for a review doesn't feel forced: people still remember your name, and having a good time.
